Monday, May 27, 2013 - Bergenfield Memorial Day Parade - Report time is 1:00pm at RWB Middle School. Parade step-off time is 2:00pm. You will be dismissed from Lincoln School at approximately 3:30pm following uniform collection.

Report in uniform, but please bring your garment bag with you, as it will be checked-in and collected prior to the parade.  Be certain to wear your 2012 Carmen Band T-shirt underneath your jacket.  This is the ONLY acceptable shirt.  See Mr. Timmons WELL in advance of Monday with $10 if you need a replacement (quantities and sizes limited).

On the day of the parade and the previous day, be sure to drink plenty of water for hydration. We will be stopping midway for water, but the best preparation is to hydrate in advance of the event. Dress lightly underneath the uniform, but be advised that we will be collecting the uniforms at the end of the parade. You must wear clothing underneath that is suitable as outerwear (light nylon shorts are suggested).

The band trailer will be packed with all percussion instruments, marching tubas, baritone saxes, and color guard items on Friday, May 24 at 3pm. Please be certain you are available to load if you use this equipment.

Upcoming BHS Marching Band Dates:

Sunday, March 10, 2013 - Bergen County St. Patrick's Day Parade

• Report time is 1pm at the corner of West Englewood Avenue and South Washington Avenue, near Bergenfield Pizza.  Please bring your instrument without its case.
   
• Parade begins at 2pm and ends near St. John's Roman Catholic Church.  BHSMB should be finished by 3pm.
   
• Please be sure that you are in full uniform (ironed pants/jacket, busby/beret, black socks, polished band shoes, bleached white gloves, belt).  No uniform problems will be solved on the day of the event, so plan ahead!!!!!!
   
• Trailer will be loaded with marching tubas, all percussion, and baritone saxophone on Friday after school. Players of those instruments should plan to be present for loading.
  
  
• Our plan is to practice during period 5 on Thursday, March 7 (weather permitting).  The parade tune will be "Garry Owen" March.

Our annual Fall Concert will be held on Tuesday, November 20 at 7:30pm featuring the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Honors Wind Ensemble in the auditorium, and a finale performance by the BHS Marching Band in the gymnasium.  Tickets are available at the door.

The annual Band Dinner will be held on Monday, November 26 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm at the Clinton Inn Hotel in Tenafly.  The cost is $42 per student, however the cost of the Montclair tickets will be deducted from this amount.  Please support your student's attendance at this special celebratory event.

Due to an issue with Ashley Farms' cookie dough supplier, the cheesecake delivery will be held on Monday, November 19.  We still need as many parents as possible to help with sorting the cheesecakes for pickup, from 1:30pm to 3:00pm.  All students must pickup their orders this day, beginning at 3:00pm in the front cafeteria.  Please make transportation arrangements for pickups of medium to large orders.   Sorry for any inconvenience.

PERFORMANCE:

Saturday, 11/17 - Football game vs. Morris Hills at 2pm (Consolation Round)

12:00pm - Report to BHS directly to rear parking lot in full uniform.  SAT test will be in progress in the front cafeteria and the school will be locked.  Do not disturb test-takers.  Eat lunch prior to arrival.  Instruments will already have been loaded on Friday.

12:30pm - Regular buses depart for Morris Hills (Non-SAT students).

1:15pm - Late bus departs with all SAT takers. Report to bus in full uniform.  You may eat on the bus.

1:30pm - Regular buses arrive at Morris Hills.  Unload equipment.  Warmup in arcs.

2:00pm - Kickoff

2:15pm - SAT bus arrives.  Students proceed to join band in bleachers.

3:15pm - Estimated halftime.  BHS Band performs second.  We will go directly to page 1 and skip field entrance.

4:30pm - Estimated game end.  Load buses and depart.

6:00pm - Estimated return to BHS.  School will be open to empty trailer and store equipment.

The Friends of Music will supply sandwiches when we head to the buses to warm-up around 8:00pm.  Our performance time is currently 9:58pm.  After our performance, we will return to our buses, store our instruments, and then return to our seats to watch the final few bands and awards ceremony.  Our anticipated return to BHS is approximately 12:30am.  

Tickets for MetLife are $30 each at the gate.  I do have 50 pre-sale tickets for $26 each, which will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.  Make checks payable to FOM Activities Account.

I sincerely hope everyone is safe and warm at their homes, with power restored.  As announced via the Reverse 911 call, we will be having a half-day of school tomorrow, November 5.  The BHS Marching Band will rehearse tomorrow from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.  This will allow time to eat lunch after classes, yet still go Trick or Treating (if you are inclined to do such) before dark.  Do not wear your costume to school tomorrow.  Mr. Fasano will permit costumes to be worn, if desired, this Friday.

Please dress warmly, as the weather will be sunny but cold, and we will be outside reviewing and rehearsing the show.  You may bring a bag lunch or go out for food, but rehearsal will start promptly at 1:30 in the attendance block with instruments and drill sheets.  No food will be available for purchase in school.

Information regarding the updated schedule for this weekend will be announced at rehearsal.

Also, please note that the cheesecake delivery will be held on Monday, November 12.  This will hopefully allow for everyone to have a week to get organized at home prior to the arrival of the fundraiser.
