2010-11 Marching Band Announcements Updated

TOWER HEIST

As announced at a meeting last week and approved at the Bergenfield Board of Education meeting on 11/22/10, the BHS Marching Band has been contracted by Universal Pictures to appear in Tower Heist, a movie being shot in New York City.  This is an exciting production, starring actors such as Ben Stiller, Casey Affleck, Eddie Murphy, Tea Leoni, and Alan Alda, among others.

The dates of the shoot are Saturday, December 4 and Sunday, December 5.  The call time each day could be as early as 5:30AM in NYC, with a possible meeting time at BHS as early as 4:30AM.  Bus transportation from BHS to NYC will be provided.  Hot meals and beverages and a warm holding area will also be provided.

Please note the following:

If you are unavailable for either or both days, your grade will not be affected.  We will be selecting 150 band members, based on their availability, instrument, and marching ability.  If you are certain that you are unable to participate due to a schedule conflict, please bring a note to Mr. Timmons as soon as possible.  If you are available but not selected to perform, we will designate you as an alternate, in which case you will be called in the event of an emergency absence.

If you are selected as a performer, please be sure to honor your commitment so that last minute changes do not have to be made!!

All band members selected as performers and alternates MUST do the following:

1)  Visit https://www.labor.state.ny.us/secure/welcome.asp to obtain a 15-day New York State Employment Permit for a Child Performer.  You must follow the directions on the website, print and sign the permit, and bring it to Mr. Timmons on Monday, November 29.  The school will complete the Verification of Satisfactory Academic Performance form.  Please note that you must attach a copy of photo ID for the parent(s) listed on the form.

2)  Print out the Tower Heist Parent Agreement, sign in all necessary locations, and return to Mr. Timmons on Monday, November 29.

3) Click on the appropriate link below to print out your part for The Footlifter.  You MUST be able to play this FROM MEMORY by the end of next week.

Saturday, November 13, 2010 - Football Game vs. West Milford (LAST GAME)
Report time is 11:30AM WITH INSTRUMENT in FULL UNIFORM on the SIDE FIELD.  You should arrive at BHS no later than 11:15AM so that you can be in position on time.  Eat lunch prior to arrival.  

Warm-up - 11:30AM to 12:00PM
Run-through - 12:00PM to 12:15PM 
In the stands to watch WMHSMB perform - 12:30PM
W&L, SSB, Kick-off - 1:00PM

2010-11 Marching Band Announcements Updated

Week of November 1, 2010
We will be rehearsing as concert bands this week.  Band periods only meet on Monday and Wednesday.

Saturday, November 6, 2010 - Football Game vs. Passaic Valley and Senior Recognition Day
Report time is 12:30PM WITH INSTRUMENT in FULL UNIFORM on the SIDE FIELD.  You should arrive at BHS no later than 12:15PM so that you can be in position on time.  Eat lunch prior to arrival.  

SAT people should arrive ASAP after your testing is finished.  You may bring a bag lunch to eat during the first quarter.

Warm-up - 12:30PM to 1:00PM
Run-through - 1:00PM to 1:15PM 
In the stands to watch PVHSMB perform - 1:30PM
W&L, SSB, Kick-off - 2:00PM

During halftime, we will march on to the field.  Seniors will be dismissed from formation to line-up alphabetically.  The rest of the band will remain at parade rest.  Following the senior recognition ceremony, we will perform or field show.  We will exit to your left for a "troop the stands" Washington and Lee.

NOTE TO SENIOR PARENTS:

Please meet at the flagpole at the east end of the field at the end of the first quarter to get organized alphabetically.  A band staff member will be present to assist you.
