THE NORTH JERSEY BAND FESTIVAL AT MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL 11/4/12 DUE TO DANGEROUS WEATHER CONDITIONS AND A DECLARED STATE OF EMERGENCY.  CHECK BACK FOR MORE INFORMATION FOR NEXT WEEKEND.

PERFORMANCES:


Sunday, 10/28 - North Jersey Band Festival at Montclair State University

 

11:45am - Report to side field with instrument for run-thru.  Wear full uniform with 2012 Band T-shirt underneath.  Eat a full lunch prior to arrival.  Bring $15 for dinner unless you sold 5 tickets to qualify for free dinner offer.

12:00pm - Run-thru of field show.  At conclusion, load trailer and report to band room.

1:00pm - Pre-Montclair meeting.

2:30pm - Meeting ends.  Load buses.

3:00pm - Depart for MSU

3:45pm - Arrive at MSU.  Get instruments. Line-up in pregame twos to enter stadium.

7:00pm - Estimated performance time.

8:00pm - Massed band finale.

8:30pm - Festival ends.  Load buses.  Depart for restaurant.
9:00pm - Arrive at restaurant.  Eat dinner.

10:30pm - Dinner ends.  Load buses.  Depart for BHS.

11:00pm - Arrive at BHS.  Unload trailer.  Meeting in band room.

11:30pm - Dismissal.  All students MUST be in school on Monday!!

5:00pm - Arrive at Wayne Hills.  Line-up in pregame twos, no instruments.  March to field.  Watch first half of show.  You may bring blankets, hats, scarves into stadium.  Eat dinner by class.  You may purchase food and drinks at the Wayne Hills snack stand (reasonable prices - very good food) or bring a bag dinner.

UPDATE FOR 10/7 - HOME FESTIVAL-

Call time is 11:30AM in full uniform at the trailer.  Dress warmly underneath your uniform, but do not wear hoodies under your jacket (they give you a hump on your back).

 

Due to the threat of rain, we will distribute the raincoats.  We will do a warm-up and run-thru, then move to the stands.  Bring money for snack stand.  Our performance time is scheduled for 3:35pm, however that may change due to weather.  We should be completely finished by 5:00pm.

 

At this time, we have every intention of holding the show outside. 

 

Please encourage your friends and family to attend the home show.  It is the biggest Friends of Music fundraiser of the year.  Tickets are $10 and are available at the gate.  The event is rain or shine, but may be moved inside to the main gym in the event of heavy rain and/or lightning.

Schedule for Week of 10/1 to 10/7

 

Wednesday, 10/3 - Priority Rehearsal

Music testing for all sections.


Saturday, 10/6 - SAT test and Football @ Tenafly
12:30pm - Report to BHS in full uniform.  Trailer will be already loaded from Friday, period 5.  Eat lunch before arriving, except SAT students who may bring a bag lunch.

12:45pm - Buses depart for Tenafly.
1:00pm - Buses arrive at Tenafly.  Unload trailer.  Warm-up in instrument families.  SAT students may eat lunch quickly.
2:00pm - Move to field and set up field entrance block.  We will use a Side 2 entrance (opposite of a football game/same as the home festival).
2:10pm - Perform field show.
2:20pm - Exit field in twos without trooping the stands, turning to the left at the end zone.
2:30pm - Kickoff.
4:45pm - Game ends (approximate).  Load buses.  Return to BHS.  Meeting in auditorium.  Distribute 2012 Band t-shirts.  Dismissal.  Equipment will be left in the trailer.

Sunday, 10/7 - Home USSBA Show @ Bergenfield
Report in full uniform with NEW band t-shirt underneath.  Call time will be decided on Saturday, based on level of performance at the Tenafly game.  The earliest call time will be 10:30am for warm-up, rehearsal, and run-thru.  The latest call time will be 12:00pm for a music warm-up only.  Show begins at 12:30pm with Star-Spangled Banner performed by RWB Eighth Grade Band.  We will watch the first half of the show from our usual spot in the home bleachers, then leave during intermission at 2:00pm to warm-up.  Students may visit the snack stand during the first half, one class at a time.  Our gate time is 3:20pm and our performance time is 3:35.  All events should conclude by 5:00pm.  Of course, the weather could change all of this dramatically, so be prepared.

Special information for SAT students:

On Thursday, please inform Stephanie or her designee if you are taking the SATs on Saturday at Bergenfield HS.  I will attempt to have you scheduled in the first testing room so that you are finished in plenty of time for the bus departure.  Should you miss the bus departure, you are responsible for getting a ride to Tenafly HS with a parent/guardian.  You MAY NOT drive yourself, per school policy.  I recommend bringing your uniform on Saturday morning and leaving it in your car or the car of another band member, so that you can get it quickly after the test.
