Update for Weekend of October 24, 2009

Due to the adverse weather conditions reported at Ramsey HS, the BHS Marching Band will not be traveling to the game today.  Student safety and well-being are always our primary concerns.  The students will be dismissed at 11:30AM.  They have been instructed to call their parents immediately to report the change.

The report time for tomorrow is now 12:00PM.  We will depart for Montclair at approximately 2:15PM. The festival begins at 4:30PM.  Our performance is approximately 5:15PM.  Please do your best to attend and support all the bands until the finale.

Following the festival, the band will be dining at Charlie Brown's in Tenafly.  The restaurant will be closed to the public.  The cost of dinner is $15 inclusive.  Please send your student with exact change in cash.

2009-10 Marching Band Announcements Updated

Update for October 17, 2009

Report time is 9:00AM, except for trumpet sectional at 8:00AM.  We will most likely be rehearsing indoors tomorrow.

Lunch break will be 11:00AM to 12:30PM.

Be prepared to perform for the football game in jeans and raincoats.  Wear suitable layers underneath based on the temperature.  If the unlikely event that the weather clears, we may perform in full uniform.  If the weather is too bad, we may not even go outside to perform, and the band may be dismissed until 5:30PM.

If we perform, the dinner break will be from the end of the game until 5:30PM.  You may bring a bag dinner or go home to eat and return.  We will begin loading at 5:30PM and depart for Wayne Hills High School promptly at 6:00PM.

The NJMEA State Festival at Wayne Hills will be an indoor performance.  We will perform in full uniform in their gymnasium at a standstill.  Our performance time is 8:00PM.  The awards ceremony is 8:50PM.  We will depart for home immediately at around 9:00PM.  Our anticipated return to BHS is 9:45PM.

Tickets for the Wayne Hills show are available at the door.  

Forms to order tickets for next week's Montclair festival were handed out to students and should be returned ASAP.  The cost is $7 and each student must purchase at least three tickets.  Checks should be made payable to "Friends of Music."

Accounts for the 09-10 Season

If you are not new to the Marching Band this year, you will not be getting a new user account. Please continue to use yours from last year! If you forgot your password then there is a link to recover your account. However if last year you did NOT set a valid e-mail address (how many times did we ask?) then you will not be able to recover it. If this is the case please contact me and I will be able to help you fix it. You can e-mail me at: mwada@bhsmarchingband.com

If you are a freshman or new to the band this year, you will be receiving printed instructions on how to gain access to the website, most likely on Tuesday.

Please try to get it set up asap so I can deal with all the problems at once.

Goodbye

I would have done this post earlier, but with so many end-of-the-school activities, this has been the only time I’ve been able to catch my breath…

I would like to bid my farewell as Drum Major of the Bergenfield HS Marching Band. Jared Cardenas has taken reign as Drum Major for the 2009-2010 year. I am without reservation confident that he and the seniors will lead this prestigious organization to greatness.

Like I’ve said countless times, on behalf of the 2009 band graduates, we have enjoyed working with each and everyone one of you. Thank you for motivating ME and inspiring ME to emphasize the notion that nothing is ever out of reach. I will miss you dearly and I can’t wait to see you ruling the field once again!
